Ms Dumisani Nomagugu Nkala is currently Business Development Director at Telecontract, popularly known as Telco. Telco is a provider of telecommunications services. Since 1991, they have successfully built a network of extensive optic fibre infrastructure for the provision of internet based communication services through its Points of Presence (POPs) in 23 of Zimbabwe’s major cities and towns.
During her almost twenty year career in telecommunications, she also for a period of time, assumed responsibility for the strategic development of a South African telecommunications entity from 2004 until 2012, participating in the leadership of a team that was put together for the purpose of unlocking the value of the organisation through capital raising and initiating strategic business partnerships which she successfully accomplished during her appointment in South Africa. Within 18 months of her tenure, she and her team had doubled the financial valuation of the organisation. They transformed the entity from a loss-making entity in 2004 to a very profitable entity by year-end of 2007. She and her team achieved and maintained stable revenue growth of 200% between 2006 and 2009 through new product development, introducing two new brands and a leadership and culture change.
Ms Nkala has also been Instrumental in the formation of the Blockchain Association of Zimbabwe (2017) which is an association tasked with the professional development of the blockchain industry within the country, maintenance of a code of conduct, educating, information and informing the public on matters that concern blockchain technologies. She is also a 2010 founding member of the South African Telecommunications Service Providers Association and is presently in the secretariat of the Zimbabwe Internet Access Providers Association.
Her interests in media and entertainment extend to digital music publishing. Her MBA Thesis (which achieved a Distinction) from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (University of Pretoria) focused on the convergence of the Digital Music Industry with the existing telecommunications industry and the innovations required in order to build successful business models in this industry. Ms Nkala is also the holder of a Bachelor of Business Science [Information Systems Honours] from the prestigious University Of Cape Town.
Dumisani’s role at MMF is responsible for managing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring the organization’s financial health and sustainability. This role will oversee all financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and compliance requirements. We also rely on you to ensure we are properly aligned from a governance & organizational structure perspective.
